Thank you guys for setting this up. The U.S. is making a fair bit of progress, but as you pointed out, only enough to slow down the growing discrepancy between the U.S. and nations such as NL and DK. We're not yet beginning to really close the gap. Some problems we're facing are a lack of campaigning (people lobbying for more and better bicycling infrastructure), a big chunk of 'not invented here' among traffic engineers, and perhaps most of all, infighting within the bicycling community between the 'vehicular cyclists' who want to ride in the road with motor traffic and 'segregated bicyclists' who simply want to be able to safely and comfortably ride to the local grocery or cafe.
